Surfer Bowl surf contest
Every year during superbowl weedend there is a surf contest at the pier in OB. This year the competition was fierce and the waves were plenty. Last year the contest had to be postponed due to foul weather.
This year definitely showed an improvement over last year’s conditions. Although the sun was blocked most of the weekend by clouds, the surf was what really mattered. The surf was good Saturday and built overnight for a tighter interval (approx 8sec.) Sunday. By the time the contest was over Sunday no one was in the water. I took advantage of the conditions after shooting on day two and dumped my camera stuff only to suit up and grab my long board. The surf really was more fun that it looked, and it proved to be too much for many seasonal surfers who watched from the beach and pier.OB Pier
