Getting ready for Costa Rica.
This was a session with Kahana Kalama, Hawaiian native and Point Loma Nazarene graduate.
Kahana and I were able to head out together for a handful of photo sessions prior to our Costa Rica trip in '05. This session highlighted Kahana's ability to boost airs. Kahana and I were working on photographing him landing an aerial back flip while maintaining control of his board. From what he tells me the flip is the easy part, the blind landing is the most challenging part of the trick. Kahana is unique in his ability to forcefully pop airs on demand. Our day here at Blacks was a good warm up for Costa Rica. I know when the session was over I sprinted up to the car to get my board and personally scored some of my most fun waves of 05' here on this uncrowned perfect day at Blacks Beach in La Jolla, California.
